Moreover, this special status can create unwanted complications. It invites further politicisation and could be used as a lever to disrupt timely decisions, causing unnecessary headaches for the Secretary of State and employers, who are working hard to support these vital staff members. Removing this requirement would bring much-needed flexibility, streamlining the establishment of the school support staff negotiating body, and allowing the Government to engage with the most relevant and effective organisations, not just those with political weight, whether in this Chamber or elsewhere.
