Furthermore, the removal of the Secretary of State’s ability to define the boundaries of negotiation will lead to financial and operational uncertainty for schools and academies. Many operate under tight budgetary constraints and face competing priorities daily. If employers are forced to negotiate over every conceivable payment or benefit, including those that may be financially unsustainable, it could jeopardise their ability to plan and manage their resources responsibly. This financial unpredictability risks forcing schools into untenable positions, where they are either unable to meet negotiated terms or forced to cut back on other essential services and support.
