Employment Rights BillContribution
My Amendment 260, also supported by the noble Baroness, Lady Jones of Moulsecoomb, intends to give the same benefit to UK workers as that which will be enjoyed by workers in all 26 states in the European Union. This is not an argument for rejoining the Common Market but for ensuring that our workers are not deprived of the rights enjoyed by all other European workers. The EU adequate minimum wage directive requires that each EU state with less than 80% of its workforce covered by a collective agreement must adopt an action plan to achieve at least that coverage within five years. The amendment simply asks for the same in the UK.
