I urge the Government to accept these amendments in the spirit in which they are offered—not to weaken protections but to ensure that they are practicable, proportionate and sustainable. Let us ensure that the noble intention of safeguarding workers’ rights does not become a pyrrhic victory whereby the cost of implementation undermines the very stability and jobs that the law is designed to uphold. For those reasons, I beg to move.
