Debate

Data (Use and Access) Bill [HL]

Contribution

I am grateful to my noble friend Lord Liddle for saying that we should read the Secretary of State’s speech, which, as I said in my opening remarks, was a balanced and thoughtful contribution to the debate. I think it has been misrepresented by some people here. I also do not believe that the Secretary of State said in that debate that it would be fair to privilege one sector over another. The views of the Government are the opposite; he said that putting the interests of one sector above those of another would be the wrong approach.
