It is unusual for a measure to unite landlords’, tenants’ and migrants’ organisations in the way that opposition to the right to rent scheme does. A call for its abolition has also come from the Mayor of London and the Society for Labour Lawyers. The scheme is incompatible with the Government’s commitment to non-discrimination and fairness in the private rented sector.
