Elected representatives at all levels and across all parties must be able to perform their duties safely and without fear, and, through the Defending Democracy Taskforce, we are driving a whole-of-government effort to ensure that that is the case. The task force has recently agreed a programme of work to tackle the harassment and intimidation of elected Members. The task force is also supporting the Speaker’s Conference that is addressing these issues.
