Lastly and above all, people in numerous cases say to me, “This is the legislation that the Government intend to bring forward. Nobody knows anything about it. People don’t understand it”. Alongside the legislative change on anonymity and the “raising a concern” policy, we thought it would be helpful to say that we will ensure that we communicate that to Armed Forces personnel, so that they know that they are protected by the amendment we wish to bring forward at Third Reading to give them that anonymity. We thought that was a really positive way to respond to the challenges raised in Committee and to the continuing concerns that people raised.
