Again, the rights of a private landlord under the Bill to charge a market rent may not apply to a shared owner, and Amendment 107 deals with that. Shared owners are not allowed to make a profit from subletting. This guidance has historically only allowed partial cost recovery, covering rent service charge and mortgage costs, as well as some other landlord costs, but the guidance is silent on some other landlord costs, such as unplanned bills and tax on rental income.
