The Government often cite minimal discrepancies at specific technical settings. However, in operational use, police forces frequently lower the similarity threshold to increase the number of matches, which exponentially increases the risk of misidentification for women and minority groups. For all these reasons, we need to introduce the controls set out in Amendments 374 and 430.
