A similar amendment was tabled to allow the Secretary of State to reverse the tax on education but, again, it was rejected. I understand that the Government will point to the figures that suggest that there has been no change to the number of pupils in independent schools, but these figures do not consider the lengths to which a parent will go to ensure that their child’s education is not disrupted.
