There is no comfort in saying, “Oh, well, in some areas we may align”. Of course, in four or five years’ time, there may or may not be a change of Government, who knows? There may not be, but there may be. A new Government might say, “You see all that alignment stuff? We’re doing away with all of that”. Then we are back at square one. So I am afraid to say that we need better answers in relation to the wider issue than simply saying that we are going to align the rest of the United Kingdom with EU laws for the benefit of Northern Ireland. It may help in some areas, but it will not be the solution.
