The fact that these things existed at all is an indication that the EU sometimes loses the run of itself. You sometimes look at some of these regulations and say, “Where’s the brain in the brontosaurus?” The hope has to be that, with the changed relationships between the EU and the United Kingdom and the fact that, frankly, the United Kingdom is a lot more important to the countries of the EU than it seemed to be several months ago, there will be some scope for more flexibility than the EU has tended to show throughout this whole crisis.
