Today’s Guardian has a piece about the 15 Members of your Lordships’ House who did not say a word in the Chamber, sit on a committee or hold any Front-Bench post during the previous Parliament yet managed to claim more than £500,000 in allowances between them. I have some exceptions with that article, as I am sure the Minister will. Many of the people named in it have rendered conspicuous service in previous Parliaments and in both Houses. Some have played a role by asking Written Questions, even though they were not with us, but a dozen did not.
