Speaking in the House of Lords on 4 March 2025

Debate

Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill

Contribution

However, importantly, as I mentioned in Committee and say again on Report, the Security Industry Authority may, where appropriate, engage with local authorities as part of its regulatory activities. They may share information relevant to each other’s functions. However, I reassure the House that this is not anticipated to result in a burden requiring financial support. As I assured the noble Lord, Lord Udny-Lister, in Committee, the Government will be undertaking a new burdens assessment. We will consider the findings of this and any cost implications for local authorities once it has been produced. Again, that will be open to discussion in this House and in the House of Commons.
