House of Lords (Hereditary Peers) Bill

Contribution

For clarification, the Government pray in aid their manifesto and talk about the grammar of where the full stop falls, but it is worth looking at their latest manifesto. In the same paragraph, where they talks about immediate modernisation and legislation to remove the right of hereditary Peers, they go on to say: “At the end of the Parliament in which a member reaches 80 years of age, they will be required to retire from the House of Lords”. It is not an add-on; it is the same paragraph.
