Baroness Pinnock (LD)

Speaking in the House of Lords on 27 February 2025

Debate

Non-Domestic Rating (Multipliers and Private Schools) Bill

Contribution

I accept the argument that was being made but the point I am making is not that point—that there is a net benefit to the Treasury, so the Government believe—but that both sets of figures were estimates that differed widely. This adds weight to the argument, which has been made in our debate on this group of amendments, around the need for an impact assessment following the implementation of the Bill. It is unfortunate that the Minister seems to be refusing to have one or suggesting that one is not needed. With those points, I beg leave to withdraw Amendment 70.
