142: After Clause 50, insert the following new Clause— “Accessibility for children with physical disabilities(1) The Mental Health Act 1983 is amended as follows.(2) In section 131A (Accommodation etc for children), after subsection (4) insert—“(4A) Where a child who is accommodated under this section has needs arising from a physical disability, the managers, in determining the suitability of the environment in which the child is accommodated, must ensure that such reasonable adjustments to the environment are made as they consider necessary.”” Member’s explanatory statement This amendment seeks to ensure improvements in accessibility for children with physical impairments who are accommodated in mental health inpatient units.
