National Insurance Contributions (Secondary Class 1 Contributions) Bill

Contribution

The Labour Government’s proposals will inevitably lead to a tightening of staffing ratios, which will mean that residents will not receive the care and attention that they have every reason to expect. The most outrageous aspect for the care industry is that public bodies and the NHS are being protected from all these increases, yet these same bodies are procuring beds from organisations such as Jewish Care, which are going to have to pay. I am grateful to another organisation, Norwood, which has briefed me about the difficult times for it and the whole care sector. The Voluntary Organisations Disability Group estimates that, as a result of soaring costs, one in three disability charities will be forced to hand back contracts for statutory care provision as it will not be able to afford to provide them.
