National Insurance Contributions (Secondary Class 1 Contributions) Bill

Contribution

Of course, the announcement by the Government of yet another independent review of adult social care, with its protracted timeline, provides little clarity or direction as care providers look to ensure continued quality for the people they support in the immediate term as best they can. I am sure that the Minister will agree that the importance of specialist social care providers cannot be overestimated. It is really astonishing that the Government have not assessed the damage that this change will cause to our most vulnerable people, which is why I have put Amendment 65 in front of the Committee. Applying extra taxes to all employees just cannot make sense. It is somewhat ironic that we are seeing the money raised by hitting the elderly and vulnerable like this going in part to public sector workers without any productivity gains.
