Representation of the People Bill

Contribution

I wholeheartedly agree that we need to do more to ensure that everyone is able to take part in voting, particularly those with visual impairments. It is an anomaly that Wales and Scotland offer support for accessing elected office, but England does not. Why does England not have that fund? We must ensure that people with disabilities are not prevented from standing to represent their communities. I am pleased that I will be serving on the Bill Committee, and I look forward to working constructively with the Government to strengthen the Bill so that our democracy is truly safe, fair and representative of all.
