Usually, with football—or whatever other sport—we say, “We can make lots of money out of it and we will do lots of good things with the money, but we can’t have it free to air”. The only sport I have ever heard people argue for the other way around was rugby league: it wanted to be a “crown jewel” event, but it maintains quite good free-to-air services. I hope that the Minister will agree that we should continue to have free-to-air services and listed events, that they should continue to be an important factor and that football will not find itself able to remove them.
