Great British Energy Bill

Contribution

That brings me to my third point. Many observers, in which I include myself, are sceptical that the planned operations of Great British Energy are, in reality, likely to achieve what they purport. They are unlikely to fulfil either of the objectives in my amendment. After all, subsidies to renewables already stand at about £12 billion a year. That is a fact—it is in the Government’s accounts. The OBR estimates that this number will go up to £15 billion by the end of the Parliament.
