The noble Lord wanted to know whether there was any money to do this. The answer is that there is some money. The investment of more than £1 billion in 2025-26 to support and improve bus services and keep fares affordable is being spent not only on the national bus fare cap of £3 from 1 January 2025 but includes £640 million for local transport authorities to support and improve bus services in bus service improvement fund planning and £285 million for the bus service operators grant to continue running and protect existing services.
