Given the expertise of so many noble Lords on the issues we face in our water sector, I have no doubt that parliamentary scrutiny of these rules will help Ofwat deliver rules that work. I hope the Minister will look at this closely and consider whether the Government might be able to accept parliamentary oversight of these rules. I am also grateful to my noble friend Lord Remnant for tabling his amendment on these rules, which would ensure that Ofwat can use its powers over remuneration and governance only to ensure that water companies are not in conflict with their duties under the Water Industry Act 1991.
