Debate

Water (Special Measures) Bill [HL]

Contribution

I notice that the Minister has not accepted any of the amendments but has sought, as is usual practice at this stage, to give reassurance on the amendments that have been tabled. Obviously, this is a crucial issue in the Bill for all noble Lords and delicate consideration needs to be given to all these issues, from the need for rapid improvement to the need to ensure that we continue to have investment and that we can attract talent to the industry, while at the same time making sure that progress is made and water companies are held to account. I guess that is the tightrope that the Government and noble Lords need to walk to find a way forward together, so that we can work to improve the water industry and see the benefits and changes take place that we all seek and desire. I beg leave to withdraw the amendment.
