Our concerns about incentive structures and the ability to attract talent to the sector also apply to Amendment 4 in the name of the noble Lord, Lord Sikka. Applying rules about performance-related pay to the whole board, including non-executive directors, would potentially harm the water sector’s ability to attract talented and experienced non-executive directors. We on these Benches share the view that non-executive directors do not generally receive performance-related pay, but it may be necessary in some cases, so why limit this flexibility?
