National Insurance Contributions (Employer Pensions Contributions) BillContribution
Why did I choose RPI instead? It is simply that housing costs are one of the biggest disincentives to pension savings, and RPI includes housing costs. I note also that the graduate loan repayment threshold is set at RPI, and I reckon that what is good for the goose in this case is good for the gander. However, I really encourage the Government to look at changing that £2,000 threshold. In raising that threshold, some of the greatest winners will be those people in exactly the group they want to target to save: the young, who are still relatively low earners and not yet with responsibilities. That is the point where they can make those investments that will then yield them a better retirement when the day comes.
