Finally—the Minister would think I was falling down on the job if I did not do this—the much vaunted and frequently promised 2.5% of GDP to be spent on defence needs to be pinned down to a date. I have exhorted the noble Lord, Lord Robertson, to put on his walking boots, go round to No. 10 and the Treasury and start kicking the doors to secure that certainty. As a concluding observation, with a Budget imminent, I urge the Minister to join him.
