It is designed to take a holistic view of the pensions landscape, informed by a strong basis in evidence and extensive stakeholder engagement. Introducing a separate statutory review risks both overlap and confusion. It risks undermining the coherence of the commission’s work and leading to mixed signals about where responsibility lies for assessing the long-term solutions for better pension outcomes.
