Oaths and Affirmations

Contribution

My Lords, for the benefit of the House, I should like to set out how the procedure will be run today. Yesterday, the process for oath-taking was really successful. I thank all noble Lords again for their patience and place on record our thanks to the clerks of the House, and the doorkeepers and attendants in particular for their work yesterday. To assist the House, I therefore want to set out the process again. Once I have finished my remarks, Members wanting to take the oath should leave the Chamber to queue below Bar and re-enter the Floor of the House on the temporal side. A rope will be provided to guide the queue. Any Members with impaired mobility should alert the doorkeepers, who will ensure that they are given priority throughout the oath-taking. There may be adjournments throughout the day, depending on the queue; the time for resumption of oath-taking will be announced on the annunciator in the usual way.
