Speaking in the House of Lords on 27 April 2026

Debate

Agriculture (Delinked Payments) (Reductions) (England) Regulations 2026

Contribution

The Middle East came up in the debate, obviously. The Middle East conflict is having impacts in all sorts of different areas. Although there is no suggestion that consumers will see impacts to supplies, we are continuing to work hand in hand with farmers, suppliers, retailers and international partners to ensure that markets function fairly and to protect the UK’s food security. We will also look, if necessary, at further government action in this space. We already work with industry and across government to monitor any potential risks that may arise. We have a resilient food system, and if concerns arise from the Middle East conflict, we will look to address them as best we can.
