Debate

Agriculture (Delinked Payments) (Reductions) (England) Regulations 2026

Contribution

The uplands were mentioned. Obviously, living in an upland area myself, like the noble Lord, Lord Inglewood, I am very aware of the challenges that upland farms face. They can be very challenging to bring into profitability, to be blunt. It is not always easy, which is why I am really pleased that the department has been working with Hilary Cottam on what we can do in upland farming areas to try to look for the best way to increase profitability and to support farmers and communities. There are two projects going forward in this space—the first will be in Dartmoor and the second in Cumbria—which we can then look to learn from.
