Debate

Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill

Contribution

I want to say something, if I may, about the points made long ago by the noble Baroness, Lady Coffey. She asked us to look at the reports of the Constitution Committee and the Delegated Powers Committee, which, she said, undermined the Bill. But the points made by those committees have been debated again and again over the last 14 days. The noble Baroness has not been in this House that long, but she will know that those committees regularly criticise Bills, including government Bills. The way we deal with that is by tabling amendments to those Bills to address those concerns on Report, and vote on them—and that is what we have been prevented from doing.
