Only the Government are in a position to determine what would be a workable system for delivering assisted dying. One persistent problem in Committee was that we have often been in the dark as to whether what we have been debating is actually workable in practice. Only the Government could tell us, but the relevant Minister on duty was invariably unable to say. To be clear, I am not blaming any of the Ministers on duty—they have all done their best—but I am blaming the process. We have been using a process that I suggest is unsuitable for the task at hand.
