Railways BillContribution
Reading station is operated by a private railway company on behalf of Network Rail, so it is even more complicated, and I hope the Minister will be able to help me to find a way through the bureaucracy involved. I have had initial offers of help from Great Western Railway and Reading borough council, but I hope we can address the issue. I do not want taxi drivers to have to lift heavy wheelchairs in and out of taxis at our station; I want it to be a seamless process whereby disabled people can use the trains. They get support at Reading from a dedicated member of staff, which is excellent, and we have step-free access, which I would love to see expanded further. I know the Government want that too.
