Amendment 87 appears to be intended to rule out someone from receiving an assisted death on account of anorexia. Last year, on 13 May, the noble and learned Lord, Lord Falconer, told “Newsnight” that eating disorder charities were wrong in their concerns. In other words, the clause was already fine as it stood. Yet, a month later, Ms Leadbeater accepted an amendment on voluntarily stopping eating and drinking, and a spokesperson told the press:
