Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill

Contribution

We have heard of Canadian examples. I recall another Canadian example—which keeps coming back to the papers—of someone in Canada who is suffering a disease and is constantly asked whether he will go for assisted suicide. There is a certain amount of torture involved in that case, because the poor man, Mr Foley, who needs medication to be able to see, could not see because the medication was withdrawn temporarily. These are really awful cases whereby people who have capacity are being neglected, and their decision to keep their lives is being neglected in some systems.
