We are where we are, and people, especially those with undiagnosed dementia and a consequential lack of capacity, may present to die and may be persuaded to seek assisted suicide or agree with the doctor that assisted suicide is the only option they have left. I accept, as the noble and learned Lord said to me earlier, that two doctors are required to examine the patient, but there is no requirement for face-to-face, lengthy discussions. We discussed that last week or the week before. The problems arising from the fact that the Bill does not require face-to-face consultations are particularly relevant to those isolated in care and nursing homes.
