Representation of the People BillContribution
I am proud that the Government introduced, under the Crime and Policing Act 2026, the provision that restricts protests outside the homes of public office holders. That is important, because we have seen the homes of too many candidates and election officials targeted by people who are not interested in protesting. It is not about freedom of speech; it is about sowing terror and fear in the families of candidates, officials and those who work in parties—the decent people who make our democracy function.
