I say this to those who claim that addressing this issue will slow the Bill down: it is already in the Bill. The Lords already hear about what is happening, and are clear about it—they can see the damage and distortion to this House from money—so that debate is going to happen. I hope that our colleagues in the other place will hear these concerns. I think we will all regret it if our union brothers and sisters are blamed for opening the door, so that what is out there, clawing its way into British politics with its chequebooks, can enter.
