In conclusion, we know that none of these measures alone will fix the trust deficit in our politics, but hopefully the weight and might of the Bill as it stands, with many of the amendments about a fairer voting system—or lack of it—a cap on donations, and truly accessible elections say something important, namely that this House is serious about a democracy that works for everyone, not just those with the safest seats or deepest pockets. I commend many of the amendments and ask the Minister to accept them.
