Representation of the People Bill

Contribution

Looking at the report on voter ID—I have to say that people involved in drafting the Elections Bill did not look at the evidence base for how many people had voter ID—the one study cited states that the figure of how many people have ID is not reliable, and even then it used a much wider range of ID used than is currently permissible. Widening the range of ID, as the Government propose, will make it far more likely that everyone will be able to vote in an election.
