Amendment 54 would require regulators to produce further explanations of how they have applied regulatory principles and statutory duties. This would reintroduce process-focused reporting requirements that the Government are seeking to streamline. Our approach is to focus accountability on outcomes and performance rather than requiring ever more detailed reports on internal methodologies. The Government agree with the importance of Parliament being able to hold the regulators to account.
