217: After Clause 63, insert the following new Clause— “Permanent exclusion: assessmentAfter being informed that a pupil has been permanently excluded from a school or academy, the local authority must carry out an assessment under paragraph 3 (assessment of children’s needs) of Schedule 2 of the Children Act 1989.”Member’s explanatory statement This amendment seeks to require the local authority to undertake an assessment of the needs of the child if they are permanently excluded from school.
