Amendment 41 would go further by creating a new statutory employment right. It would require employers to accommodate up to 10 days of additional absence for qualifying reserve training, irrespective of their existing policies or particular operational circumstances. Therefore, both amendments could create additional workforce, administrative and operational pressures for employers. Those impacts may be particularly significant where employers rely on specialist skills or shift patterns, or need to maintain business continuity.
