I appreciate that we will not reach a point of agreement on this issue tonight, but can the Minister at least tell me how the Government plan to prevent human rights law being weaponised against British troops in any potential future conflict? How will the Government give them the certainty that they will be able to do their jobs in an environment of conflict requiring immediate decisions, often of potential lethality, without fear of years of ensuing harassment and investigation? The present situation is unsatisfactory. The ECHR is jeopardising our war-fighting capability and security. I beg to move.
