Boiler Upgrade Scheme (Amendment to the Energy Act 2008 etc.) Regulations 2026Contribution
The consultation also sought views on a range of electric heating technologies that are not heat pumps. While there was broad support for expanding the scheme, heat batteries emerged as the strongest candidates for support. Respondents highlighted their ability to make use of off-peak electricity and time-of-use tariffs, as well as a potential suitability for homes where heat pumps may not be appropriate. Following consideration of those responses, the Government confirmed their intention to support heat batteries, and these regulations are specifically intended to facilitate that future support.
