Boiler Upgrade Scheme (Amendment to the Energy Act 2008 etc.) Regulations 2026Contribution
Let me briefly address the amendment to Regulation 22, which I recognise is technical and administrative; it just helps to address a fundamental issue that was necessary. More broadly—and I look forward to our debates in future—these changes support this Government’s objective of expanding consumer choice in the transition to low-carbon heat, a necessary requirement in the modern age. Decarbonising heat is essential to delivering net zero, and the Government are taking action across the economy to reduce emissions, strengthen energy security and support the transition to clean energy. By enabling future support for heat batteries through the boiler upgrade scheme, these regulations will help to ensure that consumers can access a wider range of low-carbon heating options.
