Railways BillContribution
The other thing the company has done, very sensibly, is give the residents of the clay pit area—which, for noble Lords who have not been there, has a lot of poverty and awful roads, and when there are jobs, they are good jobs—an assurance that all materials will come and go by rail. It is quite an assurance to give—“all materials”—so the company is keen to know how Great British Railways, which it will be by the time this starts, will be able to guarantee that it will have the capacity to bring in the various materials from all around the country, some in large volumes, some in much smaller volumes, but all by rail.
